Representation matters. And as more women of color have a seat at the table, through their power and influence they have been able to spotlight and address the many issues that often have left women of color behind, ignored, and unprotected. But they cannot do it alone and there is still a long way to go.
The Organizer In All of Us will feature women of color representatives, organizers and industry leaders who are taking the country by storm. Our conversation and talk-back will provide insight into the cultural and political initiatives that are driving real impact, the work they see that still needs to be done and, most importantly, how women of color can stand in their own power and winβfor the peopleβin 2020.

Waking Up Latinx in America
https://schedule.sxsw.com/2020/events/PP1132318
SPEAKERS: JUAN CARLOS PEREZ (Art+Logic)
What does it mean to be a Latinx immigrant? It means waking up to news about children separated from their families, ICE raids, the deportation of immigrant soldiers, threats to DACA recipients, proposals to deport naturalized citizens, the president calling immigrants animals, the list goes on. These constant threats are used to define us and force us to justify ourselves as American. As these assertions about Latinx immigrants morph into assumptions and accusations, they leave us feeling voiceless, silent, and defined not by who we are or what we do, but by the categories placed upon us. So, how do we regain our voice? Do we turn to Frederick Douglass? Do we align ourselves with AOC, Pelosi, or Schumer? Do we start something new? I think itβs time for a radical new take on self-reliance.

Social media has transformed Brazil into one of the top users of social media, yet large masses remain digitally excluded. Social media has become synonymous with the internet, and the country has become one of the biggest markets for persuasive technologies. While internet access grows exponentially, digital literacy does not follow. We need to improve emerging βnetizensβ’ capacity to integrate or we risk digital apartheid. Using Brazilian research projects as a starting point, we’ll reflect on alternatives that improve the quality of digital interaction and positive social outcomes. And finally, we’ll address how we creators of the web can evolve in creating alternative measurements to assess interaction in our digital world.
