When I was 15, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I was more worried about fitting in than about creating my own path. This is not the case for Lauren Nicole, at 15-year-old up-and-coming fashion designer who is doing AMAZING things and shows no signs of slowing down.
Lauren Nicole is a native of San Antonio, Texas, which is literally a skip, hop, and a jump away from Austin. Lauren Nicole has made a name for herself through her social media presence by writing a fashion, style, and beauty blog at Lauren-Nicole.com.
Just like any 15-year-old, Lauren Nicole continues to learn and grow with any opportunity she gets. She has molded and learned the craft of fashion design for the past 5 years, by attending Fashion Camp NYC; which pairs student designers with Professional designers, textile makers, brand, and marketing executives to help introduce Fashion and Design to the aspiring designer.
This girl is seriously #GOALS for any young woman!! Lauren Nicole was one of three designers selected for the Marisol Deluna Foundation as a 2014-2015 recipient. During her time with the foundation, she traveled to New York City to learn the fashion trade from New York fashion designer Marisol Deluna and assisted with production, styling, and dressing for the Marisol Deluna New York 25th Anniversary Runway Show in San Antonio, Texas.
Lauren Nicole will be debuting her Fall/Winter 2016 line at Austin Fashion Week and I could not be more excited!
Featuring texturally rich fabrics and sleek metallics, her 20-piece collection has a rocker chic vibe. Modern silhouettes are encompassed in pieces like an architectural vegan leather skirt with rose quartz trim and crushed velvet duster coat with striped chiffon lining.
Inspired by the world around her, the high school sophomore creates versatile pieces for the timeless woman — pieces women can wear no matter her age. When it comes to personal style, Lauren Nicole describes her daily wardrobe as “classy, comfy and chic,” three elements she translates into her designs for her label.
Lauren Nicole sat down with The Nueva Latina to discuss her love for San Antonio and share more about her Fall/Winter 2016 line.
TNL: Let’s do this! Tell everyone how Lauren Nicole, the designer, got started.
LN: I started drawing and making clothes at a young age. When I was about 7 or 8, I would doodle and draw different clothes on sketch paper. Then, I began learning how to sew and put together clothing items. My first pieces were gifts for my friends or younger cousins.
TNL: How did you decide on naming your designs and your brand after you?
LN: I decided to name my brand Lauren-Nicole because individually they are two very strong, unique and beautiful names; but together they give you a very powerful presence. Lauren is of English origins and means “the place of Laurel Trees” and Nicole is of Greek decent and means “Victorious People.”
TNL: Yay!! You are a San Antonio girl! What is your favorite thing about San Antonio?
LN: I love San Antonio! I love the fact that it is a big city with a small town feel. We have so much history with the Alamo and Missions, and there is so much to do. Being so close to Austin and the Texas Hill Country is a plus. It is like traveling to a different part of the world with all the different cultures represented in our nearby communities.
TNL: When you attended Fashion Camp NYC, did you expect to learn as much as you did?
LN: I really thought I was just going to learn basics about fashion, but it really opened my eyes to the world of fashion. Some major designers and brands were there and I learned how to market, build a brand, sketch and design from them.
TNL: Tell me more about your latest lines debuting at Austin Fashion Week 2016.
LN: So excited to show my Fall/Winter 2016 collection, the textures and colors are very dynamic.
TNL: There is an emerging fashion community in Texas. How do you think Lauren Nicole fits with the Texas fashion community?
LN: Texas fashion is so eclectic and there are so many different styles that Texas designers create. I feel that my ready-to-wear collections can be worn everyday in any city throughout Texas. My evening wear can be used for Texas beauty queens or our very own Texas celebrities who are looking for a very old-Hollywood and classic design style and feel.

TNL: What are your plans to continue to grow?
LN: I am still learning how to refine my sewing and designing skills, along with learning how to hand-dye fabric.
TNL: Where do you see Lauren Nicole in the next five years?
LN: In five years I hope that I will be completing design school and continuing designing by having a successful line that is carried by retailers nation/worldwide.
TNL: Anything else you want my readers to know about you and your line?
LN: I design for the everyday woman, I feel that my designs complement women of every age and body type.
