Happy Thursday!! I am officially 1 day away from my trip to NOLA for a friend’s bachelorette party weekend. I haven’t been to New Orleans since 5 years ago for my baby brawda’s big 2-1. I love the spirit and the culture of The Big Easy. I am SO EXCITED to finally be back.
I love traveling and it is definitely something I want to do more. I especially love the planning process leading up to a trip. I always do the same 3 things before visiting somewhere new or even somewhere I have gone to before.
1. Book, Book, Reserve
First, I book my flight, I book a place to stay, and I make any MUST-DO reservations for dining, excursions, etc. For NOLA, I made sure I could get the day off and then booked my flight. We are staying in the cutest little Airbnb in Leonidas. It’s super close to public transportation and there is a lot of little restaurants and shops in that area.
We also went ahead and made reservations for things we wanted to do while in NOLA. We will be doing a swamp tour, dinner at Saints & Sinners, Burlesque Brunch at SoBou, and a walking ghost tour. I am most excited for the food and the ghosts. Haha.
2. Make a list
Second, I make 3 lists for the place that I am visiting. I do A LOT of research for these lists. Haha. I make a To-Do list, a To-Eat list, and a packing list. For New Orleans, I added another list called “To-Drink”.
I usually started with anybody I know who is from the area and ask for their recommendations. Second, I consult people who I know that have traveled to or travel often to that place. Third, I head to good ole YouTube and Google to see what the “experts” say.
3. Check the weather
Third, I always check the weather history for the time I plan on visiting a place right after I book a trip. I like to be prepared for anything that may come my way. I also want to know if it’s historically rainy or snowing in the place I am going so I know what to pack and what to buy if I don’t already have it.
For our trip to New Orleans, it’s not looking too good. Haha. It’s going to be mostly partly cloudy with a 40% of scattered showers. So, I will for sure be packing my umbrella.
The bachelorette I am attending is “Mexican”-themed so I am excited that I get to sport some of the Mexican wear that I don’t really get to wear on the daily.
