48 Years Ago: The first TRUE Music Festival – Monterey Pop 1967

I watched the Monterey Pop documentary again last night and I fell in love all over again. People weren’t on their phone the whole time and no one was pushing or fighting to try and get closer to the stage. The people in that documentary were just happy to be listening to the music live. I hope my generation can gain back that genuine love for music. Music can bring so much change and I think we have forgotten that.

Abuelita Juanita: A Story of My Grandma and My Faith

My grandmother on my father’s side passed away this past Sunday, May 3, 2015 around 3:00 AM. Ever since my grandfather passed away, she slowly started not eating and getting sick. She basically past away from being lonely. Her whole life after being a nurse, she dedicated her time to God, the Church, and my grandpa. Like most old-school Hispanic women she catered 100% to my grandpa’s wishes. Once he passed, I guess she didn’t have as much purpose to keep living.

An Ode to my Little Sister

Now, she is 16 going on 17. She began her Junior year on Monday. Over the years we have grown closer and I can say she is both a sister and a best friend. She tells me all her gossip with friends and boys. I tell her things about my life that I know no one else would understand. She is my shining light and everything I do in my life I do with consideration to her and my younger brother. I am so proud of who she HAS become and am excited for all the things she CAN become.
