A Little Piece of Mi Mexico at Taste of Mexico 2018 - The Nueva Latina

A Little Piece of Mi Mexico at Taste of Mexico 2018

Every now and then I get really homesick. When I first moved to Austin from Del Rio, TX I would go home several times a month. It was hard for me to let go and to move on. That and I missed the food terribly. I was so used to having Mexico right across the border that I really did take it for granted. When I found out there was an event called “Taste of Mexico” happening in Austin, I could not contain my excitement!! FINALLY!!!

TNL Travels: Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo - The Nueva Latina

TNL Travels: Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo

When the bride invited me to Playa del Carmen for her bachelorette, I was a little nervous. Girls’ Trips, in general, make me nervous after a bad experience I had. I was excited to go back to the Cancun area, though, since the last time I was there it was for my sister’s big 1-8. Although I won’t be hitting up Playa del Carmen for my bachelorette, it’s the PERFECT place for a bachelorette. There is SO MUCH to do! The weather is PERFECT! And the food is AMAZING!

Holy Mole! Celebrating Las Posadas!

Last year, my boyfriend and I decided to start having an annual posada at our place. This year it will be the last posada we have in an apartment before we move into a house. I want to make it an extra special holiday party because of this, so I decided to make mole for my first time for the party.

But, of course, I wanted to test it out first before then. I am so excited because it actually came out AMAZING!! And it is a super simple recipe that anyone could follow and make using a slow cooker.

Remembering Abuelita with Santos Sabores

The taste of a frozen lemon pospsicle brings back memories of spending the night with all my cousins at my grandma’s house. My grandma had a thing for bolis and paletas. For some reason she was always fully stocked when we arrived. She didn’t offer actual food to us when we walked through her door. Instead she offered us sweet frozen goodness. That is one of the biggest memories my whole family has of her.

Cancun 2015: Relaxing in Paradise

This past weekend, my mom, sister, and I headed to Cancun to celebrate my little sister’s 18th birthday. We stayed at the Krystal Grand Punta Cancun and had the all-inclusive package. It was AMAZING, to say the least. We enjoyed amazing food and beverages all day, everyday we where there. The beach was beautiful despite all the seaweed that has accumulated over the past year there. The sand was still clean and white. The weather was a little cloudy and stormy when we arrived, but it cleared up by the second day we were there.
