Continue ReadingEvery now and then I get really homesick. When I first moved to Austin from Del Rio, TX I would go home several times a month. It was hard for me to let go and to move on. That and I missed the food terribly. I was so used to having Mexico right across the border that I really did take it for granted. When I found out there was an event called “Taste of Mexico” happening in Austin, I could not contain my excitement!! FINALLY!!!
Continue ReadingLast year I took a trip that I had been dying to take for such a long time. I bit the bullet and trekked into Mexico City. ¡Fue lo MAX! I loved it…all of it. The city life, the sights, mi cultura, the tequila, the food…everything was amazing. CDMX is a must see!
Continue ReadingWhen the bride invited me to Playa del Carmen for her bachelorette, I was a little nervous. Girls’ Trips, in general, make me nervous after a bad experience I had. I was excited to go back to the Cancun area, though, since the last time I was there it was for my sister’s big 1-8. Although I won’t be hitting up Playa del Carmen for my bachelorette, it’s the PERFECT place for a bachelorette. There is SO MUCH to do! The weather is PERFECT! And the food is AMAZING!
Continue ReadingHappy Hump Day!! I am officially 1 day away from my trip to Playa del Carmen for one of my bestie’s bachelorette party weekend. I haven’t been to the beach in Mexico since two years ago for my baby sister’s big 1-8. The beach is my favorite place to be and I am excited to finally be back.
Continue ReadingI am beyond grateful that I had my parents to teach me the true value of hard work and how to save money from so early on in my life. Life after college wouldn’t have been as easy if I didn’t have them there reminding me and nagging me about finances and making wise financial decisions.
Continue ReadingThis past summer I was really excited to take my sister to experience the amazingness that is Hay Elotes!! I ordered a Chamoyada and she ordered a Mangonada, a specialty drink made of blended mango and liquid chamoy.. We both ordered their signature corn in cup with lime and chile. I think it’s safe to say that we will be going together a lot once she moves to Austin starting in the fall.
Continue ReadingLast year, my boyfriend and I decided to start having an annual posada at our place. This year it will be the last posada we have in an apartment before we move into a house. I want to make it an extra special holiday party because of this, so I decided to make mole for my first time for the party.
But, of course, I wanted to test it out first before then. I am so excited because it actually came out AMAZING!! And it is a super simple recipe that anyone could follow and make using a slow cooker.
Continue ReadingThe taste of a frozen lemon pospsicle brings back memories of spending the night with all my cousins at my grandma’s house. My grandma had a thing for bolis and paletas. For some reason she was always fully stocked when we arrived. She didn’t offer actual food to us when we walked through her door. Instead she offered us sweet frozen goodness. That is one of the biggest memories my whole family has of her.
Continue ReadingThis past weekend, my mom, sister, and I headed to Cancun to celebrate my little sister’s 18th birthday. We stayed at the Krystal Grand Punta Cancun and had the all-inclusive package. It was AMAZING, to say the least. We enjoyed amazing food and beverages all day, everyday we where there. The beach was beautiful despite all the seaweed that has accumulated over the past year there. The sand was still clean and white. The weather was a little cloudy and stormy when we arrived, but it cleared up by the second day we were there.
