Viva Las Vegas with The Nueva Latina: Part 2

I also don’t want to walk around looking like I just rolled out of bed. Any other weekend in Vegas, I probably wouldn’t care. But, with the Latin Grammy’s and the Cotto vs. Canelo fight, I don’t know who I might see or even meet! Gotta stay looking on point!!

These are some of the outfits I plan on wearing during my trip. Most I looked for on Pinterest. I have very little to no fashion sense, so I need to look at what others are wearing that I can easily mimic.

Viva Las Vegas with The Nueva Latina: Part 1

I am BEYOND excited! This will be my first girls’ trip without my mom. My mom and I are super close and it makes me a little sad that I will be going on a girls’ trip without her. I am excited to bond and to party with my girls though! 3 of the girls joining me are my sorority sisters and I also invited one of my friends from college. It will be interesting to see how both my worlds collide while we are on our vacation.

Cancun 2015: Relaxing in Paradise

This past weekend, my mom, sister, and I headed to Cancun to celebrate my little sister’s 18th birthday. We stayed at the Krystal Grand Punta Cancun and had the all-inclusive package. It was AMAZING, to say the least. We enjoyed amazing food and beverages all day, everyday we where there. The beach was beautiful despite all the seaweed that has accumulated over the past year there. The sand was still clean and white. The weather was a little cloudy and stormy when we arrived, but it cleared up by the second day we were there.

1st Generation American: My Story

I am Mexican American. I am tired of being criticized for loving the United States, but for also embracing my Mexican heritage and traditions. I am in-between two worlds. It’s something only a few can understand. Being 1st generation American you constantly feel like you don’t know who you are because you love two very different cultures at the same time. And if you ever love one more than the other, at any instance, you feel like you are cheating on the other.

Nos Vamos a Colombia! Meeting the Love of My Life and Getting Ready for Our First Big Trip

I never understood that Colombians were “different” than us. We are Mexican, but my parents still exposed me to other Latin cultures and customs. In a way, I was always destined to meet a Colombian and fall in love with him, right? *winks*
Now, I am 3 days away from boarding a flight to Colombia. I am so excited and can’t wait to see what awaits us there! Julian has been there multiple times in his life (obviously), but this will be my first time visiting another country other than the US or Mexico.

48 Years Ago: The first TRUE Music Festival – Monterey Pop 1967

I watched the Monterey Pop documentary again last night and I fell in love all over again. People weren’t on their phone the whole time and no one was pushing or fighting to try and get closer to the stage. The people in that documentary were just happy to be listening to the music live. I hope my generation can gain back that genuine love for music. Music can bring so much change and I think we have forgotten that.

An Ode to my Little Sister

Now, she is 16 going on 17. She began her Junior year on Monday. Over the years we have grown closer and I can say she is both a sister and a best friend. She tells me all her gossip with friends and boys. I tell her things about my life that I know no one else would understand. She is my shining light and everything I do in my life I do with consideration to her and my younger brother. I am so proud of who she HAS become and am excited for all the things she CAN become.
