When I first moved to Austin it was hard for me to let go of my constant cravings for Mexican snakcs.
About a a year ago I came across this little gem in East Austin called Hay Elotes!! which literally translates to “there is corn”. I love corn with all the Mexican fixings (expect mayo…I just can’t bring myself to like the stuff).
The sign caught my eye and I knew I just HAD to walk in! I am so glad I did.
They have a pretty extensive Mexican snack menu and I was so happy to see that my favorite Mexican snack of all time the Conchinada was on the menu. It is this corn chip brand called Conchitas with melted cheese, corn, and chile served in the bag and ready to go.
This past summer I was really excited to take my sister to experience the amazingness that is Hay Elotes!! I ordered a Chamoyada and she ordered a Mangonada, a specialty drink made of blended mango and liquid chamoy.. We both ordered their signature corn in cup with lime and chile. I think it’s safe to say that we will be going together a lot once she moves to Austin starting in the fall.
