Austin Food & Wine is a weekend event that brings together local and world-renowned chefs to curate a food experience like no other. It hands down was the absolute best time of my life. Austin Food and Wine Festival is a 3-day food and drink festival at Auditorium Shores. It’s basically a big party for foodies!
A Little Piece of Mi Mexico at Taste of Mexico 2018
Every now and then I get really homesick. When I first moved to Austin from Del Rio, TX I would go home several times a month. It was hard for me to let go and to move on. That and I missed the food terribly. I was so used to having Mexico right across the border that I really did take it for granted. When I found out there was an event called “Taste of Mexico” happening in Austin, I could not contain my excitement!! FINALLY!!!
Valentine French Macaron
For Valentine’s Day this year, I made my fiance some Lavender Honey French Macarons. I honestly try not to make them too often because we try our best to be conscious of what we are consuming and live by the “you are what you eat” motto but he is a sucker for sweets. So I knew it would be a treat that would make him happy and that always makes me happy. I hope you get inspired to get your hands on the ingredients and make some of the yummiest cookies you will ever have.
Foodie Friday: Hay Elotes!! – Austin, TX
This past summer I was really excited to take my sister to experience the amazingness that is Hay Elotes!! I ordered a Chamoyada and she ordered a Mangonada, a specialty drink made of blended mango and liquid chamoy.. We both ordered their signature corn in cup with lime and chile. I think it’s safe to say that we will be going together a lot once she moves to Austin starting in the fall.
Foodie Friday – Joe’s Bakery & Mexican Food
I am extremely picky when it comes to Mexican food. When I first heard of Joe’s from a friend, I am not gonna lie, I was thinking, “You are full of s***!” The thing is that ever since I came to Austin I hadn’t found a place that truly, really, sincerely reminded me of the food from back home. There are AMAZING places in and around town, but most of them have one or two things on the menu that I actually love.

They use HUGE pieces of WHITE chicken. We had the Sesame Chicken and General Tso’s Chicken plates. Both tasted AMAZING! Not too sweet or sour and just enough sauce to give each piece of chicken it’s own taste.
