MALUMA BABY! for the past year or so, my bridesmaids and I have had this running joke about Maluma. “What would you do if you met Maluma?” And let’s just say the answers aren’t exactly PG-13. Haha
I had the opportunity to attend his concert, FINALLY, after months of trying to make plans with these girls. It was crazy, though, because I had reached out as press to see if I could get a chance to get closer to the action and really have the opportunity to review Maluma and his tour. And they ended up saying YES and hooking me up with two tickets and a press pass.
I, honestly, went into it with little to no expectations. I have attended many concerts in my life. And, usually, this type of genre live isn’t as good as it is through my headphones. I ended up SUPER SURPRISED.

The Colombian native blew me away with his energy on stage, his dance moves, and his voice. The guy can really sing and that was something that I wasn’t expecting at all.
Yes, he had the usual female dancers shaking their bootays around him. And he was dripping with the bling required of reggaeton’s biggest stars. But he’s also a bit of a romantic, frequently smiling and blowing kisses into the crowd. He even called out his now official girlfriend,Β Natalia Barulich, and star of the “Felices Los 4” music video.
Maluma Baby serenaded a female fan onstage and wrapped his arms around her neck, his hands and lips caressing her face during “El Perdedor.” She couldn’t stop smiling. It ended with a kiss on the lips. That’s a move right out of Enrique Iglesias’ concert playbook!
New album “F.A.M.E.” is due this month, and he previewed it with singles CorazΓ³n” and “El PrΓ©stamo” (in an oversized floral quilted jacket). He also zipped through his many collaborations with Shakira, including the terrific “Chantaje” and “La Bicicleta (Remix).”
The performance exceeded my expectations. It was fun, energetic, and overall amazing. His fan base might not be what he deserves yet, but soon he is likely to become one of the greatest artists of our time.
I was excited to learn that he is looking to make the crossover to English language music and he even released a song called “Hands on Me” with BURNS and Rae Sremmurd with him singing in English and showing us just how BADASS he really is! Can’t wait to see what he does in the future.
I also loved that he chose to do some party music during his performance with “Party Animal” and “Carnaval.” He took a solo turn on Ricky Martin duet Vente Pa’ Ca and I was semi-expecting Ricky Martin to pop out.
He followed with his Latin Trap inspired songs like “GPS” and “Cuatro Babys”. All the men in the crowd finally stood up to jam out at that point. Haha. There are a lot of fans of the up-and-coming genre that is Latin Urban or Urbano Latino.
